D.C. Crenshaw is the founder and President of Fete, the World's Premier Dining Network, an eight year old marketing event company that showcases the newest and best restaurants in Chicago via progressive dining events. After generating a lot of interest and buzz in the social event community, D.C. was consistently tagged to host and/or promote other social, charitable and political events throughout the city. Initially starting with zero contacts, D.C. started a grassroots word of mouth networking campaign that collectively generated over one hundred thousand distribution email contacts both socially and professionally. D.C. and Fete became notorious for attracting and hosting the most unique and diverse events in Chicago. Since then Fete has hosted and/or promoted hundreds of events at notable venues such as Bin 36, Naha, Metropolitan Club, Museum of Contemporary Art, Carnivale, and Wave in the W Hotel. Fete was one of the first to be asked to host political fundraisers for his friends U.S. Senator Barack Obama and Illinois State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias. Fete is also active in the non-for-profit sector, either hosting or promoting charitable events around the city. D.C. sits on the board of a non-for-profit mentoring program for urban youth, the Sue Duncan Childrenes Center, located on the south side of Chicago and founded by the mother of Chicago Public Schools CEO and recent Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.
Q: Best new restaurant in 2009.
A: I can't pick just one place. My favorites now are Prosecco, Blue 13, and Mercat a la Planxa and C-House. Watch out for Sunda this year though.
Q: What would be your ideal last supper?
A: Probably a nice chicken or fish dish that includes my Dad's macaroni and cheese and my Mom's pumpkin squares for dessert.
Q: What is your guilty pleasure?
A: Nothing better than eating a fresh doughnut with cereal for breakfast.
Q: What will the next food trend be?
A: Good and cheap cuisine...at least for the next year or so.
