Born in Pasadena, Jennifer spent her high school years in San Francisco before graduating with a Marketing degree from the University of Colorado. After ten years in Chicago, she has started to make her mark on the things closest to her heart. She has spent the last seven years working for Brigandi + Associates, a marketing agency in Chicago, on assignments that had her doing everything from partnerships with top blockbuster movies to national mobile tours. While Jennifer's family is dedicated to the Arts, she is looking to focus on youth-based programs in Chicago, like the Chicago Training Center--an outreach charity that teaches rowing to inner city kids. From family obligations to personal involvement, Jennifer seems to have the inside scoop on everything including art openings, movie premieres, designer trunk shows and the city's finest charity galas.
Q: Favorite local Chicago artist or performer?
A: Chicago is filled with so many great success stories, from Ernest Miller Hemingway to Frank Lloyd Wright. With the abundance of theaters, museums, and concert halls in Chicago, residents can experience first hand see some of the greatest that are just now getting their start. Personally, Marc Hauser is one my favorite local Chicago photographers, whom I had the chance to sit for last year.
Q: Most interesting event of 2010 so far?
A: The AIC Modern Wing Opening Gala on May 9th was the first event since ASM's fall gala on the new runway that truly left the event planner in me speechless. Not only was the set-up beautiful, the multi-course dinner for over 1,200 people was great, and one would be amiss to not mention the attention to small details like the couches that were strategically brought in for the after party. It's the small touches that make the difference, and this event was not lacking them.
Q: Weirdest/Wildest thing you’ve ever seen on stage or in a gallery/museum?
A: Actually at the AIC Young Modern event they had one of the strangest pieces of art at the entrance. It was like a glass coffin with a figure inside that you had to walk over. The crazy part was that it's eyes were actually a camera that played what it saw on a screen next to it. As you can image there were many ladies taking the side path instead.
Q: Best performance or exhibition you've ever seen?
A: I have seen exhibits all over the world and while there have been many great ones, none can compete with the current MCA exhibit of Olafur Ellasson. The exhibit holds a surprise behind every corner. I know which room I want to be in on a stressful day.
Q: Favorite summer arts festival?
A: It is my understanding that there are a few new additions to community festivals popping up around Chicago, which I will surely attend. However, my favorite summer-based activities can include, Tuesdays at the Terrace at MCA, GenArt film festival in June, and Movies in the Park.
