As many of you know, I am the Founder of Maven…it is a promotions and publicity company. We are a “connections” agency. We specialize in the lifestyle industries – fashion, nightlife, dining, media, etc. One of our signature events is the “Diva Series.” We honor influential women in PR, Media, Fitness, Fashion, etc and celebrate their success. I love recognizing women who deserve a pat on the back and it thrills me to bring them together to celebrate fabulousity (that’s a new word btw - Webster’s Dictionary – holler, return my calls). It all began when I was approached by Jbar to foster a new night. They wanted my help with Sounds Good Thursdays with Chicago DJ legend Jesse De La Pena. I had to stick with the theme. It was based on music.  I have to admit, the theme was limiting at first, but I thought of what I could offer the Chicago scene and the energy I wanted to create. This was before I started my company Maven. I thought about what I enjoy and what inspires me. I saw so much talent in other women out there and wanted to put it on a platform! It thrilled me to make other people happy and get them great exposure. I knew I had so many wonderful women I wanted to showcase….well, every musician needs a DIVA to accompany them!  Everyone needs a soulful voice that can deliver the notes with meaning. That’s when the Diva Series was born…it’s quite tongue and cheek…I don’t pick women who qualify as the negative stereotype as a diva – I really pick the women out there doing wonderful things and who are humble about it and appreciate the honor. And I focus on women who inspire and encourage other women. The purpose was to create an active audience that appreciates their accomplishments and is inspired to pursue their own dreams. Each Diva contacts their support system and celebrates on this special night. So in essence, the Diva Series is all about having fun – appreciating and inspiring…and just enjoying success. And being fabulous. And strutting your stuff. Have a cocktail, engage in great conversation and simply go home knowing your dreams can come true. That’s what the Diva Series is about.
