Growing up in Rockford, Illinois, Meghan had to search far and wide for cultural events and excellent shows. Almost always these searches ended up in Chicago. Since the age of 16 she’s been visiting Chicago to go to off-beat venues to see local bands. Now that she lives in Chicago and is of age, she loves to look for cheap bars and the grungier side of night life. Metal bars and drum and bass are at the top of the list for her, but the occasional classy opera is always welcome. She looks for the more unconventional side to anything, loving Dub step and crusty old bars and abandoned firehouses.
Q: Guilty Pleasure
A: Skipping out on responsibility to see friends, music, and enjoy the night.
Q: Best Concert Experience of all time?
A: Rothbury Festival 2009! I saw MSTRKRFT, EOTO, Girl Talk, Disco Biscuits, Lotus, The Dead, String Cheese Incident, Alex B, and more that I can't remember. I loved the people so much because even if you got tired of a show, you couldn't get tired of the people.
Q: Lollapalooza vs. Pitchfork?
A: None.
Q: Favorite Music Venue in Chicago?
A: Smartbar, because you're at the same level at the subwoofers and they rock your world!
Q: Best New Artist of 2010?
A: Oh I have no idea, but best new album of 2010 in Meghan's world: Pendulum's 'Immersion.'
