Explore two large galleries filled with mobiles and sculptures by Alexander Calder and seven contemporary artists influenced by him. Calder's work ranges in scale from two inches, influenced by jewelery designs to several story tall public art pieces. His spider mobiles are meant to move by the movement of air as people pass by them. There are 56 Calder sculptures on display at the MCA. In the adjacent room, artists, Martin Boyce, Nathan Carter, Abraham Cruzvillegas, Aaron Curry, Kristi Lippire, Jason Meadows, and Jason Middlebrook display 32 works all influenced by Calder in their contemporary design.
