Black Rebel Motorcycle Club have made themselves famous with ice cool sneers and leather jackets. While that may be beyond cliche, their songs have also lent themselves to the nihilist-cool aesthetic with their boot stomping, buzzing garage rock. Their new album, Beat the Devil's Tattoo is no departure. It's a rock and roll album for hot summer nights of whiskey tumblers smashed beneath a leather-boot. The album is a grinding journey that takes the listener from smashing bass-lines that have you cruising with the windows down to deliberately slow tracks that dangle the beat, like ashes hanging from a drunk's cigarette. B.R.M.C. picks it all back up for bar-brawls of rock tracks, soaked with distortion and blues, ready for a tumble.
Insider Info: Check out the new album on Black Rebel Motorcycle Club's Myspace page. They've leaked nearly the whole thing and have got it up now for your listening pleasure. While your at it, check out the opening act, Band of Skulls who are also fuzzy and bluesy but despite their name bring a bright beacon of pop to the night.
