This one is filed under early warning because the tickets for this show are so hot, they'll burn a hole through your skinny jeans. Hot Chip have become major players in the dance-punk scene that bridged electro and indie in the past few years. Though this was three years ago, so rest assured that the cool kids are just coming to see the xx, who are the next big thing. Hot Chip's lyrics are often cheeky enough to roll the dancefloor from under your feet and smack you in the face with lines like "hot chip will break your legs/snap off your head." This is where their r&b and hip hop influences shine, but pop, soul, electro also glide smoothly below serious hip-shaking. It is the kaleidoscopic sound of contemporary-pop, you could call it electronic r&b, dance-able but still a bit too cool.
Insider Info: The xx are headlining a Chicago show in the beginning of April and it has already sold out. Like Hot Chip, xx are from London. They are a band of four who write sultry bedroom songs, with a very modern nod to r&b. Meaning, this is going to be one sexy show. Come to dance and don't be surprised if love connections are abound.
