The Scotland Yard Gospel Choir Return

Stronger and Better than Ever

Recommended by Lisa White

Last fall TSYGC were ready to hit the road to promote their new release. It was Belle and Sebastien-esqe, hook heavy pop titled ...And the Horse You Rode In On. The tour was abruptly held when their van was involved in a major accident. Equipment was lost, bodies were bruised and broken, and insurance bills and costs loomed. Benefit shows popped up. Articles about the band, urging readers to donate, were in almost every Chicago publication. It me proud of the Chicago music community. Time has passed and the band is now returning to the stage for the first time. Head out, support a great local talent, buy their album, and realize no matter what life throws at you, friends and support will always be there.

Insider Info: SYGC are on Chicago gem, Bloodshot Records. They formed careers of  Ryan Adams and Neko Case, and consistently put out an eclectic blend of artist. Some of my favorite to check out are Ha Ha Tonka, a country twang rock outfit with harmonies and hints of blues and gospel, and the fiery Andre Williams, with his witty and dirty honky tonk blues lyricism.
