If three days of Indie music overload from the Pitchfork Music Fest didn't satisfy your Indie cravings, check out Wicker Park Fest 2009 this weekend. This sixth annual street festival will feature more than 40 Indie bands on three different stages; some up-and-coming acts, like Future Rock and Grand Duchy; as well as established Indie staples, including the Junior Boys and Margot & The Nuclear So and So's. While music is a main draw for the festival, there will also be food and vendors lined up and down the streets with offerings as eclectic as the music.
Insider Info: This festival will provide a glimpse into the hipster world of one of my favorite neighborhoods in the city. I believe Wicker Park's diverse energy writes the perfect soundtrack to accompany you on your journey as you discover more about this popular Chicago neighborhood. Don't miss out on the fest's after parties for more live music. One will be Saturday at Congress Theater (17+); doors open at 9:00 PM, and the show starts at 10:00 PM. The other will be Sunday at the Double Door (21+); doors open at 9:00 PM, and the music begins at 9:30 PM. Tickets for both parties are $20 in advance or $25 the day of the show.
