Rediscover your inner retro girly-girl with an exciting and fun cardiovascular dance class. Taught by Krista Ortgiesen, every Monday, 7:30- 8:30PM and Tuesday, 6:00- 7:00 PM at the Flamenco Arts Center, you’ll learn how to incorporate classic go-go moves to the sounds of ‘60s-style rock ‘n’ roll. Classes start with a warm up and lead into a choregraphy set to '60s music. Each week a new routine will be taught so you can learn all the moves of a GO-GO dancer. At this class the same choreography is taught Monday and Tuesday. For more information on these classes, contact Krista at gogokrista@gmail.com.
Insider Info: Go-go dancing originated at a club called The Peppermint Lounge in NYC during the 60's. Women would get up on the tables to do the twist, and go-go dancing was born! Also, according to Wiki, the term Go-Go is "derived from the French expression à gogo, meaning 'in abundance, galore' which is in turn derived from the ancient French word la gogue for "joy, happiness."
